Background

Located on the new Netflix campus in the heart of Hollywood, NOVA is a creative space that authentically inspires conversations and collaborations between artists and Netflix. The space is divided into 2 parts– the creative Crucible and the Artist Studio.

The creative Crucible serves as an alternative, safe space for Netflix employees to work from and meet with colleagues. Given the opportunity to constantly discover and learn about a revolving roster of artists and their practices, the goal here is to help build an internal pipeline of conversation and reflection.

Meanwhile, the Artist Studio hosts an ongoing Artist-in-Residence program where the end goal is to produce engaging, one-of-a-kind merchandise collections that are distributed through seeding and Netflix’s e-commerce destination, Netflix.Shop. The first collection was created by LA artist Stefan Meier and successfully launched online in July 2022 to celebrate the Season 4 premiere of the hit series, Stranger Things. Inspired by the 1980s and the show’s well-known iconography, Stefan created a hand-drawn, embroidered apparel and footwear capsule collection, as well as two Stranger Things inspired paintings that were made into limited-edition, signed prints.
